How were you introduced to film photography?

“In 2019, my dad gifted me a Bronica SQ as a college graduation gift. He thought I’d really enjoy the process of shooting on film. He was right.”

How do you blend photography and storytelling in your videos?

“By combining video making and photography, I’m able to provide a bit of context to the images that I take and share some tips and lessons I learn along the way. I’m an experience driven photographer, rather than someone who is solely focused on the end result. I really enjoy the entire process of going out and taking images, and I try to showcase that in the videos I make. By focusing on an experience, the story usually reveals itself along the way.”

What was one of your most memorable photo you’ve taken?

“I was on a backpacking trip in the Cascade Mountains. I woke up and saw a gentleman, Gary, sitting across the valley from me eating breakfast. I walked over to him and asked if I could take his photo. We struck up a conversation that I will remember forever. He shared with me how much hiking and backpacking has changed him for the better over the years, and how the outdoors has made him appreciate various aspects of his life much more than he did in the past. The portrait I shot of Gary is one of my favorite photos to date.”

How do you stay inspired for new projects?

“Traveling to somewhere new or somewhere I haven’t been in a long time is probably the biggest way I stay inspired. I get really motivated to photograph and document things that I don’t see on a regular basis.”

What do you hope people take away when viewing your photography?

“I hope it helps motivate people to get outside, try something new, or take a trip to somewhere they’ve never been before. From my experience, life tends to get a lot more interesting once you decide to take a small step outside your comfort zone.”
