Hi! I’m Miga, 31 year old girl just enjoying life in Berkeley, CA :)
How were you introduced to film photography?
📸 I’ve loved taking photos since I was a kid, starting in the digicam era. I took a darkroom class in high school and have shot film here and there since. During the pandemic, I fully leaned into film to get outside and remind myself of all the beautiful things to be grateful for.
How does living in the Bay Area shape your photography?
🌅 Growing up in the Bay, I was always chasing views, sunsets, finding a new secret spot to hang with friends. We are lucky to have sunshine, nature, cityscapes and so much to explore. I went through a pretty tough time living in NYC in 2020, and coming back to the Bay reignited the special sense of adventure and love for life I felt growing up here. My photos try to embrace that same feeling - that honestly life is so dreamy and the most meaningful thing I can do for myself is to treasure it.
What was one of your most memorable photo you’ve taken?
🐾 The one from CDMX of the man walking the dogs will always be a fave haha. I’m sure this is just a regular part of his routine but the fact that I crossed paths with him at the perfect moment is part of why photography is so fun for me - the serendipity and timing always feels like a little treat.
How do you stay inspired for new projects?
✨ Little moments every day are the most inspiring to me - the way the light hits a building, sunshine creating shadows with trees, watching people enjoying their lives and interacting with loved ones. These days I shoot most often traveling - it’s so lovely to find and appreciate these familiar moments even in completely new environments.
What do you hope people feel or take away when they view your photography?
💗 I hope my photos help remind people that life really is a gift, and how much beauty and joy there is to experience - no matter what other chaos may be around us, appreciating the simple things helps me realize how cool it is to even be alive in the first place. If I can share the chance to feel even just a moment of the same awe and wonder, I’d be delighted.
